Bauchi State Ministry of Women Affairs Partners UNFPA over implementation of Gender Based Policy Action plan

The Bauchi State Ministry of Women Affairs and Child Development in collaboration with UNFPA have organized a two-day review and validation meeting on the Bauchi State Gender Policy and Action Plan to critically examine and finalize draft documents, for, inclusion in conformity with the state’s development priorities.
The meeting brought together government officials, nongovernmental organisations, and other civil society groups to jointly develop a practical and results oriented action plan that will serve as a clear roadmap for the effective implementation of the gender policy across the state.
Speaking during the programme, the State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development, Dr. Lidiya Haruna Tsammani, said the gathering was aimed at addressing issues of gender balance, discrimination, and the promotion of equality in Bauchi State.
The commissioner, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Saleh Mamman, commended the commitment and dedication of non-governmental and civil society organisations in the collective effort to eradicate gender-based challenges in the state.
Also speaking, the Bauchi State Focal Person of the United Nations Population Fund Ms. Deborah Tabara, commended the commitment of the state government to addressing gender based violence, and reaffirmed readiness to continue partnering with the state in the fight against all forms of gender violence.
Participants at the meeting expressed optimism that the outcome of the review would strengthen the implementation of the gender policy and translate into meaningful progress for women, children, and other vulnerable groups across Bauchi State.
