Member representing Shira constituency in the state assembly Auwal Hassan has corroborated that heavy rainfall has coursed serious harvoc on some communities in Shira Local government area.
Auwal Hassan said the flood destroyed farmland, houses and other valuables worth millions of naira.
He noted that the flooding had particularly affected some communities like Zigau, Kubul and Shira where over nine hundred houses submerged and destroyed by water.
The lawmaker, therefore called on members of the public and spirited individuals, National Emergency Management Agency and Bauchi state government to come to the aids of people affected by the calamity.
Commenting on the matter the Speaker Abubakar Y. Suleiman instructed the Clark of the house to communicate with the executive arm of Government with specific emphasis on this local government areas of Shira, Giade, Jama’are, Kirfi and Gamawa, Damban for immediate and urgent action.
Abubakar Suleiman recommended for the construction of drainages and providing relief materials to the affected communities.
The lawmakers point out that there is existing reports on water flooding that occurred last year in the state where a committee visited some local government area in the affected by flooding saying the house will dusting off the last year’s reports on flood and align it with some local governments that experienced the flooding this year.
