Bauchi State Govt pledges full implementation of FRILIA Programme in the State

The Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Alhaji Mohammed Auwal Jatau, has assured of the state government’s total commitment to the full implementation of the Framework for Responsible Investment in Land-Intensive Agriculture (FRILIA) programme in the state.

He gave the assurance during an interactive session with members of the FRILIA Technical Working Group at the conference hall of his office, Bauchi.

The delegation was led by the Commissioner for Agriculture and Chairman of the Technical Working Group, Dr. Aliyu Gital.

According to the Deputy Governor, the introduction of FRILIA will significantly address long-standing challenges that have hindered agricultural development in Bauchi State and across the country.

He described the programme as a critical intervention aimed not only at improving agricultural productivity, but also at promoting responsible, equitable, and sustainable investment practices in the sector.

Alhaji Auwal Jatau identified persistent farmer-herder conflicts as one of the most pressing challenges confronting the agricultural sector, noting that, the clashes have led to loss of lives, displacement, and disruption of farming activities in many communities.

He stressed that, FRILIA has a vital role to play in mitigating such conflicts through responsible investment and improved land management practices.

The Deputy Governor further stated that, the administration of Governor Bala Mohammed is fully committed to supporting the effective implementation of the programme, emphasizing that, its success depends on strong collaboration among all stakeholders.

He said the initiative aligns with the state government’s broader vision of transforming Bauchi State into a leading agricultural hub in Nigeria.

In his remarks, the state Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Aliyu Gital, assured the Deputy Governor that, members of the Technical Working Group would work diligently to create an enabling environment for the effective implementation of the FRILIA programme in Bauchi State.
