Bauchi State Government has directed the immediate closure of all primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions across the state following growing security concerns.
The directive affects public and private schools, including Federal Government-owned institutions operating within the state.
A statement by the Information and Public Relations Officer, Bauch State Ministry of Education, Jalaludeen Usman, said the decision was reached after extensive consultations and a careful review of the current security situation.
The state government in the statement, said the measure, though difficult, was necessary to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and school communities.
It described the protection of children as a moral responsibility that cannot be compromised.
The state government therefore, urged Parents, guardians, school proprietors, and other stakeholders to remain calm and avoid panic, as efforts are being made with security agencies to address identified threats and restore normalcy.
The statement also called on the people to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the authorities, stressing that public cooperation was crucial in maintaining security.
The Bauchi State Government assured that further updates will be provided as the situation unfolds and promised that academic activities will resume once it is deemed safe.
