Bauchi Hisbah calls for the establishment of pre-wedding and marital counseling school in the state.

Office of the Bauchi State First Lady in collaboration with the Hisbah unit, Bauchi State Shari’ah Commission has organized a one-day sensitisation session aimed at addressing challenges affecting matrimonial homes in Bauchi.

The event, themed “Challenges Faced by Matrimonial Homes: The Marriage Process, Causes of Divorce and Ways to Address Them,” brought together religious leaders, women groups, legislators, and other key stakeholders at the NBA Secretariat.

Speaking at the event, the Permanent Commissioner of Hisbah, Barrister Aminu Balarabe Isa, called for the establishment of a specialised school for pre-wedding and marital counselling, noting that such an initiative would significantly curb the increasing rate of broken marriages.

Also speaking, the Chairman, state House of Assembly Committee on Religious Affairs, Barrister Habibu Umar, assured participants of the legislature’s support for programmes aimed at strengthening families.

He said the lawmakers would remain committed to tackle the rising cases of divorce in the state.

In his keynote address, the Kano State Hisbah Commander, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, emphasised the need for collective action among stakeholders.

He attributed many marital crises to inadequate pre-marital guidance and a lack of understanding between couples, stressing that proper knowledge of each other’s temperament and responsibilities was essential for a stable home.

In her remarks, the Bauchi State First Lady, Hajiya Aisha Bala Muhammad, appreciated the participants for their engagement and urged them to put the knowledge gained into practice.

She reaffirmed her commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at reducing marital conflicts and promoting peaceful, stable families in the state.
