Following the recent religious crisis that erupted at Tama District of Toro local government area which led to loss of lives and destruction of property, Bauchi state government has set up a high powered delegation to promote peace understanding among diverse religious groups in the area.
The delegation which comprises Islamic and Christain clerics were among the delegation where both clerics preached peace and harmonious relationship from the Glorious Quran and the Bible.
During a peace mission to Tama District , leader of delegation led by Commissioner Ministry for Religiuos Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Binni Abdulkadir who expressed dismay over the incident said Governor Bala Muhammad was deeply touched over the unwanted acts hence the establishment of the committee to promote peace and mutual understanding in the area
Alhaji Muhammad Abdulkadir called on people of the area to live in peace and harmony irrespective of their ethno religious differences to avert reoccurrence.
In their separate preaches, Alhaji Adamu Dumi and Marfan Bauchi , Alhaji Abdullahi Yakubu Marafa who quoted verses of the Glorious Qur’an and Hadith stressed the importance of peace in Islam and urged people of the area to tolerate one another irrespective of the religious differences.
On the Christian side , the Secretary CAN Reverend Wakili Matthew and Reverend Dauda Gambo also quoted the Bible saying it promotes interfaith harmony hence the need for Christians to live within the confine of the Bible.
Also speaking, the District Head of Tama Alhaji Adamu Yakubu assured the delegation that efforts were being made to investigate the incident saying that some suspects have been arrested, and appealed for thorough investigation inorder to bring the perpetrators to book
The incident had resulted in the killing of two children, burning of two Churches and destruction of some shops in Tulu village.
