Bauchi State Government has unveiled plans to construct a modern museum aimed at preserving cultural heritage and expanding the state’s tourism potential.
The State Commissioner, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Alhaji Abdul Hassan, disclosed this while defending the ministry’s 2026 budget proposal before the Bauchi State House of Assembly Committee on Culture and Tourism.
He explained that the proposed museum will serve as a hub for conserving historical artifacts, showcasing the state’s rich cultural diversity, and attracting both local and international tourists.
According to him, investing in cultural infrastructure is part of government’s strategy to reposition the tourism sector for greater economic contribution.
Alhaji Abdul Hassan further noted that the ministry remains committed to implementing programs that will revive cultural values, enhance tourism development, and generate revenue for the state.
He also announced plans by the state government to construct a 13.5-kilometre feeder road linking Kafin Madaki to the Sumu Wildlife Park in Ganjuwa Local Government Area.
The Commissioner noted that, the project is part of the government’s renewed efforts to enhance tourism infrastructure and improve access to key tourist locations across the state.
He explained that the road, once completed, will ease transportation for visitors and local communities, boost tourism activities, and stimulate economic growth in surrounding areas.
Responding, the Chairman, state assembly Committee on Culture and tourism, Awwal Hassan Shira, said the assembly would continue to give the state government, legislative support to further invest in upgrading tourism facilities as part of its broader plan to position the state as a leading tourism destination in Nigeria.
He commended the ministry for its vision and assured support their initiatives that will promote Bauchi State’s cultural identity and tourism growth.
