The Bauchi State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Alhaji Usman Shehu Usman, has urged youths in Giade Local Government Area to unite and contribute meaningfully to the development of their community.
He made the call at the closing ceremony of a football competition held in Giade, where he reaffirmed the critical role of young people as drivers of societal progress.
The Commissioner pledged continued support for youth-focused initiatives aimed at empowerment and community advancement.
Usman Shehu stressed the need for sustained youth engagement, particularly in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections.
He encouraged young people to uphold values of unity, peaceful coexistence, and mutual respect.
In his remarks, the Peoples Democratic Party PDP Chairman in Giade LGA, Alhaji Manu Ali, commended the Commissioner for his commitment to youth development through sports.
He called on other stakeholders to emulate such efforts in promoting youth-oriented programmes.
Also speaking, the Giade LGA Sports Director, Malam Yayan Gida Baba, described the Commissioner as a consistent supporter of youth empowerment initiatives, including programmes that promote self-reliance and job creation.
As part of his contributions, the Commissioner donated jerseys, footballs, and cash to about sixteen participating teams, a gesture aimed at boosting morale and fostering unity among the youths.
