Bauchi State Assembly to hold public hearing on the creation of additional local government Councils in Bauchi.

Bauchi State House of Assembly is planning to hold a public hearing on the restoration and creation of additional local government areas in Bauchi.

The majority leader of the house Sale Hodi Jibir announced the plan while briefing parliamentary Correspondents on the outcome of the first inaugural meeting of the special committee constituted for restoration and creation of additional local government council.

Sale Hodi Jibir who represented the Chairman of the committee Jamilu Umaru Dahiru, the Deputy Speaker of the house, said the public hearing will be conducted in all the three Senatorial District of the state to gather input from citizens and stakeholders on the proposed establishment of additional local government councils within the state.

According to him, the public hearing is part of a process designed to allow citizens, community leaders, and other interested parties to voice their opinions and concerns on the proposal.

Sale Hodi noted that, during the public hearing, guidelines and criteria and as well timeframe for the submission of memoranda will be announced by the committee.

The majority leader added that, local governments in Nigeria are established by state legislation with two third majority of the lawmakers with the endorsement of the National Assembly which has the power to review and potentially influence these actions.

The goal he said is to ensure transparency and public input in the decision-making process regarding local government creation, which is a significant aspect of governance.

Sale Hodi also announced plans by the committee to visit all the six Bauchi Emirates to intimate the royal fathers on the development.
