The Bauchi State House of Assembly Committee on Works and Transport has inspected the ongoing construction of roads in Shira, Jama’are, Ningi, Alkaleri, and Kirfi Local Government Areas.
Chairman of the Committee, Engineer Garba Adamu Kawu, said the visit was part of their oversight functions to obtain first-hand information about the projects and ascertain the level of performance by the contractors.
He explained that the Committee embarked on the inspection to assess the progress of work so far executed under the State Government through the Bauchi State Ministry of Works and Transport.
Engineer Garba Kawu added that the move was part of efforts to complement the Bauchi State Government’s commitment to providing access to rural areas through the construction of rural and feeder roads to open up communities across the state.
While commending the construction firms for a job well done, Engineer Kawu charged them to intensify efforts to ensure timely completion of the projects.
The Committee members also urged supervising engineers from the State Ministry of Works and Transport to ensure that quality work was maintained on all sites.
Engineer Garba Kawu further stated that the Committee would continue to monitor and supervise the projects to ensure their successful execution in line with specifications and contractual agreements.
According to him, all the projects are strategic to the growth and development of Bauchi State and its people.
At the various project sites, the contracting firms briefed the Committee members on the level of progress and assured them of completing the projects according to specifications and timelines.
