Bauchi State House of Assembly has screened and confirmed the appointment of Hadiza Abdulkadir Kango as a member of the Bauchi State Executive Council.
The confirmation followed her appearance before the legislators for questioning during plenary.
In an interview, the newly appointed commissioner in the state executive council Hadiza Abdulkadir Kango has pledged to focus on addressing the rising cases of rape and street hawking in a bid to end the abuse of girls and children.
Hajiya Hadiza Abdulkadir Kango made this commitment shortly after being screened and confirmed by the Bauchi State House of Assembly.
She highlighted her priority areas, which include tackling sexual violence, promoting women’s empowerment, and fostering child development.
The newly appointed commissioner emphasized that, women’s empowerment has always been a key focus of her work and assured the people of Bauchi, especially women, of her unwavering dedication to ending violence against women.
Hadiza Kango also expressed her gratitude to Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for the trust he has placed in her, promising to work closely with the government to deliver on the “My New Bauchi” project.
Similarly, the House has confirmed the appointment of Babaji Idris Shehu as the substantive Auditor-General for Local Governments.
This followed the presentation of a report by the Chairman, House Committee on Public Accounts, Mubarak Haruna, which recommended his confirmation.
visiting all the concerned communities to verify their submissions, assess physical realities on the ground, and critically analyze the presentations within two weeks.
He also recommended that each member of the Assembly be co-opted into the committee’s activities during visits to their respective constituencies to ensure inclusivity and wider participation.
