Bauchi Ministry for women affairs calls for proper action against GBV in the state.

Bauchi State Ministry of Women Affairs and Child Development has urged stakeholders to intensify efforts against gender-based violence (GBV) by increasing awareness, strengthening support for survivors, and improving legislation.

The Permanent Secretary of the ministry,Alhaji Sale Mamman made the call
in preparation for the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence in Bauchi.

Alhaji Sale Mamman also called for a multi-sectoral approach involving government bodies, civil society, and the private sector to protect women and girls, emphasizing that progress must continue beyond the campaign period.

He said, the state government would continue to ensure stringent measures are taken against perpetrators in line with the law to serve as deterrent to others.

Alhaji Sale Mamman therefore warned those in the habit to desist, saying, who ever found wanting, woukd face the law.

According to him, the Ministry would advocates for stronger laws and better implementation to ensure survivors have access to justice.

The representaan Right Yachi Dalla,Ministry of tives, HumEducation, Marry Ishaya , FOMWAN Hajiya Habiba Sa’ad Usman,water-aid Rahab Danladi Jatau ,and other development partners, called for increasing awareness and community engagement in mobilizing the public through town hall meetings and awareness rallies to break the silence surrounding GBV and reduce stigma.

They also emphasized the need for a unity among civil society organizations, and the private sector to work together to end violence against women and girls.

They revealed that, governments at all levels needed the support of stakeholders to eradicate GBV in the society.

The development partners therefore pledged to continue protecting the rights of the vulnerable to ensure that, potential are achieved.
