Bauchi Head of Service pledges Govt. support in promoting gender equity.

Bauchi State Head of Civil Service, Barrister Mohammed Sani Umar, has reaffirmed the state government’s unwavering commitment to promoting gender equity across the state.

Barrister Sani made this known while declaring open, the NLC Women Committee Delegate Conference and Election, themed “Accelerate Action for Achieving Gender Equality: Imperative for a New NLC Gender Policy,” held at the main auditorium of the Abubakar Umar Secretariat, Bauchi.

He revealed that the state government has prioritized inclusive policies by appointing women to strategic positions and supporting programs that empower female civil servants.

Barrister Sani pledged continued collaboration with the organized labour, civil society organizations, and development partners to ensure that gender equity is not just a goal, but a reality.

He also urged the delegates to approach the NLC Women Committee elections with unity, purpose, and a shared vision for progress.

In his remarks, the State NLC Chairman, Comrade Dauda Maidara Shu’aibu, represented by Comrade Ibrahim Maikudi, advised the newly elected executives of the Women Committee to develop strategies that will strengthen the union and move it to greater heights.

He thanked Governor Bala Mohammed for his continued support to the union, which includes the implementation of the new national minimum wage, salary reviews for health workers, and the upward review of pensions, among others.

Comrade Shu’aibu further appealed to the state government to provide a bus for the NLC Women Committee and construct toilets for women in the state’s Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.
