Bauchi Governor cautions security Agencies to be impartial towards addressing various forms of criminality.

Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has urged security agencies to remain impartial and respect traditional institutions across the state as part of efforts to consolidate the gains recorded in the fight against various forms of criminality.

The governor made the call while presiding over an expanded meeting of the State Security Council held at the Government House, and assured of his administration’s continued support in preventing crises and sustaining lasting peace.

Governor Bala Mohammed stressed the need for synergy between security personnel and community leaders, noting that emerging security threats now include kidnapping, cross-border criminal movements, misinformation and opportunistic crimes affecting communities across the state.

He said Bauchi remains relatively stable, but warned that, forest reserves, busy markets and a growing population require constant vigilance to detect unusual movements and prevent minor crimes from escalating.

The governor therefore charged traditional rulers to provide timely intelligence, mediate disputes, mobilise their communities and refrain from land sales, interfering with security operations or using their authority to legitimise illegality.

He directed emirate councils to establish simple reporting systems linking village heads, local governments and divisional police officers, warning that delayed information weakens response mechanisms and allows insecurity to spread rapidly.
