The present administration in the State says it has improved its Internally Generated Revenue from less than three hundred million naira on inception to over two billion naira.
The State Commissioner of Finance, Dr Yakubu Adamu made this known during the on going tenure report of Bauchi State Government, showcasing landmark achievements and citizenship engagement tagged the score card organised by the ministries of Information and Communication jointly with that of Budget and Multilateral Coordination in collaboration with all media Organizations in the state.
Dr Yakubu Adamu explained that the State Government is targeting an Internally Generated Revenue of over three billion naira before the end of the year.
He maintained that Governor Bala Mohammed has prioritised the payment of salaries, settlement of debts and other mandatories.
According to him, in an effort to improve revenue generation the state government is collaborating with a Chinese Company to produce Cement, adding that already the company has mobilised to site in Gwana District of Alkaleri Local Government Area and production process has commenced.
Responding to a question about pension, the Commissioner explained that Governor Bala Mohammed has approved one hundred million naira monthly for the payment of gratuity to reduce the burden before the full commencement of the State Contributory Pension Scheme.
He added that on inception the present administration inherited a payroll full of problems ranging from ghost workers to omission in the payroll which he said have now been ratified.
The Commissioner restates his commitment to prudence and accountability in the management of public funds.
He added that the State Government is spending about eleven billion naira in the payment of salaries to workers in the state and local government workers.
On improving revenue generation the Commissioner said efforts are being intensified towards ensuring that revenue generation is taken to the highest level.
