Bauchi Assembly Speaker calls for renewed committee on peace, public service and unity among Nigerians for National Development

The Speaker of the Bauchi State House Dr. Abubakar Y. Sulaiman has called for a renewed committee to peace, public service and unity among Nigerians for National Development.

He was speaking at the first Sir, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa memorial lecture with a theme: peace as an inspiration for national development, the legacies of Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa.

Dr. Abubakar Sulaiman said late Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa during his life as Prime Minister of Nigeria, has played a pivotal role in shaping Nigeria’s educational system, peace and culture values.

The speaker who described the memorial lecture the first of its kind, commended the organizers of the event for celebrating the life and time of late Nigerian Prime Minister, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa for his contributions to education, economic, peace, unity and political stability of Nigeria.

The quest speaker at the occasion, retired Sani Usman Kukasheka, called for sober reflections, emulations and national integration among Nigerians, saying peace is a foundation upon which nations progress.

According to him, there is the need to revisit the wisdom and legacies of Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa in championing discipline, justice and inclusivity as a pillar for national stability.

Retired Sani Usman Kukasheka further emphasized the strategic importance of fostering peace as a foundation for national security and socioeconomic development.

In her welcome address, the Vice Chancellor, Sa’adu Zungur University, Professor Fatima Tahir described the memorial lecture as apt and timely considering the role Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa plays in ensuring that Nigeria remains as an entity.

The memorial lecture was organized by Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Center for peace and security Studies Sa’adu Zungur University, Bauchi Campus.
