Bauchi Assembly reaffirms its commitment to promote the welfare of Medical and Health Workers in the state.

The Speaker, Bauchi State House of Assembly, Dr. Abubakar Y. Suleiman has reaffirmed the legislature’s commitment to policies and laws that will promote the welfare, professional development, and working conditions of medical and health workers in the state.

Dr. Suleiman made the pledge while speaking at the official commissioning ceremony of the Phase II Secretariat of the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria in Bauchi.

The Speaker described the commissioning as not only a celebration of infrastructure but also a testament to the unity, progress, and collective resolve of the union to enhance institutional growth and members’ welfare.

He commended the leadership and members of MHWUN for their resilience and dedication to improving healthcare delivery in the state, recalling his personal experience as a former Vice Chairman of the union in Kaduna State.

Dr. Suleiman assured that the State Assembly would continue to collaborate with the union to strengthen the healthcare system, particularly at the grassroots level, through effective legislation, oversight, and policy advocacy.

He promised that the legislature would support improved funding, modern infrastructure, and enhanced remuneration for health workers across the state.

Representing Governor Bala Mohammed at the event, the Head of Civil Service, Barr. Muhammad S. Umar, commended the union for its achievements and pledged the government’s commitment to improving workers’ conditions of service, salaries, and duty-post upgrades.
