BASIEC fixes January 6, 2026 for by-elections in Shira and Zaki LGAs

Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission has announced Tuesday, January 6, 2026, as the date for the conduct of bye-elections in Zubo and Mainako wards of Shira and Zaki Local Government Areas of the state.

The Commission made the announcement in a statement signed by its information Officer Ishiyaku Adamu and made available to newsmen in Bauchi.

The statement said, the announcement was line with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) and the Bauchi State Electoral Law 2008.

According to the statement, the bye-elections will be held simultaneously across Zubo Ward in Shira Local Government Area and Mainako Ward in Zaki Local Government Area.

BASIEC in the statement, also announced the postponement of the Tumfafi Ward bye-election in Shira Local Government Area, which was earlier scheduled for December 23, 2025, to the new election date of January 6, 2026.

It further disclosed that, nomination forms for interested candidates are available for collection at the Shira and Zaki Local Government Electoral Offices.

It added that, the notice also serves as formal information to Tumfafi and Zubo wards in Shira Local Government Area and Mainako Ward in Zaki Local Government Area on the conduct of the elections.
