Bauchi State Infrastructure Development and Maintenence Agency has directed for the immediate removal of illegal bill boards and campaigns posters placed on street lights poles, and structures in the state.
The State Director General of the Agency Engineer Abdulrahman Mai-auduga who issued this directive during a BRC live phone in programme to sensitize and educate members of the public on the development.
He said, if the order was not acted upon, its enforcement team would be forced to pull them down.
Engineer Abdulrahman Mai-auduga said, the agency decided to sensitise the general public on the illegality that posed immeasurable and long term damage to those who erect, operate and maintain billboards in the state.
The Director General added that the removal of unnecessary billboards and campaign posters across major locations in Bauchi is part urban renewal and regulatory cleanup initiatives to address unauthorized structures in the state.
According to him, compliance with the directive is crucial towards ensuring a well regulated urban landscape in Bauchi State.
He called on billboard owners to visit the agency for proper guidance and authorization to avoid serious consequences.
Also speaking during the programme, the Managing Director, Bauchi State Physical Planning and Development, Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed
called on Bauchi residents to adhere strictly to all physical planning guidelines and regulations put in place by the state government.
He noted that, protecting people and the environment from harm was a social obligation and a right of every citizen.
On his part, the representative of Bauch State Roads Traffic Agency, Dr. Zubairu Mato expressed deep concern over the increasing cases of motorists driving against traffic and violating traffic rules in the state.
He warned that, the agency will prosecute offenders before a Mobile Court and impose penalties as stipulated by law.
Contributing to the programme the Director environmental conservation with BASEPA, Mustapha Abdulhamid Ahmed revealed that, BASEPA is implementing policies to ensure that environmental laws are adhere to, for a healthy living.
