Bala Wunti Support Organization Donates Bags of Rice to IDPs in Kashere Amidst Rising Displacement

The Bala Wunti Support Organisation (BWSO) has distributed 100 bags of rice to internally displaced persons (IDPs) who fled recent bandits’ attack in Alkaleri Local Government Area, seeking refuge in Kashere, Gombe State.

The intervention is aimed at cushioning the immediate impact of displacement and providing relief to affected families during this challenging period.

Presenting the food items to the displaced persons, the Chief Executive Officer of BWSO, Arch. Muktar Jarmajo, said Bala Wunti was deeply moved by reports of the attacks in Alkaleri Local Government Area.

Receiving the relief materials on behalf of the beneficiaries, Alhaji Umar Badikoo, Baraden Kashere, disclosed that there are more than 10,000 IDPs currently taking refuge in Kashere, with over 6,000 sheltered at the Kashere Central Primary School camp.

He explained that the displaced persons have been in the camp for five days, with the number increasing daily as more victims of the attacks continue to arrive, the receipients expressed appreciation to the Organisation for the timely intervention during the Holy Month of Ramadan and “prayed God to reward Bala Wunti abundantly for being his brother’s keeper.”

The distribution exercise is part of continued commitment to supporting vulnerable communities and humanitarian emergencies across the region.
