Professor Pate elected pioneer President of the Society of Nigerian Broadcasters.

Broadcasters and scholars of Mass Communication across Nigeria have converged in Abuja for a two day conference for a redefining vision in an attempt to shift broadcasting and media business to meet up with a changing era.

The conference saw the midwifing of a new professional body known as Society of Nigerian Broadcasters (SNB) which brought up al practitioners in Radio, TV stations, Universities and Polytechnic departments of Mass Communication under one professional body.

In his keynote address at the conference, the chairman of Channels Media group Dr. John Momoh described broadcasting as one of the most powerful tool for national survival and development.

He therefore tasked practitioners under the new umbrella of SNB to expand the operational landscape to meet up with the emerging tendencies of the digital era..

Represented by the General Manager, Channels Academy, Mr. Kinsley Uranta, Dr. Momoh emphasized that broadcasters need to enhance integrity through innovative content dissemination without compromising the national interest.

In his remarks, the Director General of NTA, Comrade Abdulhamid Salihu Dembos, welcome broadcasters to the new platform of SNB, describing it’s emergence as visionary stride of some veterans in the field of broadcasting for the sole aim of instilling professionalism in the industry.

Media practitioners including scholars, researchers and regulators of industry across the nation participated in the two day conference of the new body with series of paper and panelists discussions on topical issues around broadcasting ethical matters and the way forward.
