Bauchi Governe Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has launched the construction of 203.47 kiBala Aes of rural roads inhas lauree senatorial districts of the state.

The project is under the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project, RAAMP, valued at over 44 billion naira.

Speaking at various project sites, the Governor said the new road phase is a clear demonstration of his administration’s commitment to transforming Bauchi State and driving economic growth through improved rural infrastructure.

Governor Bala Mohammed noted that, RAAMP reflects the government’s resolve to bridge rural infrastructure gaps, empower farming communities, and promote inclusive development.

He added that, Bauchi State has strengthened collaboration with the Federal Government, the World Bank, and the French Development Agency, AFD, while putting in place a stronger monitoring and evaluation system to ensure quality delivery.

The Governor disclosed that Bauchi is among the first three states in the country to meet key RAAMP requirements, including the passage of the laws establishing the State Rural Access Road Authority and the State Road Fund, as well as the appointment of their Directors-General and Boards.

He explained that, RAAMP is not just about constructing roads, but about connecting rural communities to markets, improving livelihoods, opening access to health and education, and lifting people out of poverty.

He added that, with most of the state’s population living in rural areas and relying on agriculture, improved access roads are essential for productivity and economic growth.

Governor Bala Mohammed also announced that Bauchi has qualified among the first five states to benefit from the scaled-up RAAMP-SU programme, making the state eligible to access about 30 million dollars for additional rural infrastructure.

He said another 300 kilometres of rural roads have already been earmarked and are undergoing engineering design for implementation.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of rural dwellers, noting that Bauchi has over 4,000 kilometres of rural roads in deplorable condition.

He also expressed appreciation to development partners for their support.

The RAAMP National Coordinator, Aminu Bodinga, represented by Engineer Chinedu, commended the state for paying over 6 billion naira as counterpart funding—the highest among the 19 participating states.

He described Bauchi as a national model for rural access governance.

Also speaking, the State Commissioner for Rural Development and Special Duties, Farouk Mustapha, said the partnership between the state government, the World Bank, and the Federal Government has opened new opportunities for rural communities.

He noted that, Bauchi ranks among the top three performing states in the RAAMP programme.

The 12 roads flagged off for construction include:

– 14.45km Misau–Beti–Maladunba road
– 28km Gamawa–Sakuwa road
– 14.75km Dargazu–Gambaki–Chinade–Gangai road
– 6.68km Yana–Fago road
– 6.6km Giade–Tagwaye road
– 4.91km Gadar Maiwa–Zakara road
– 25km Dagu–Ningi road
– 36.65km Dott–Dado–Baraza road
– 8.86km Nabardo–Jamaa road
– 6.71km Maraban Dajin–Dajin road
– 26.8km Liman Katagum–Polchi–Kastinawa road.
