YAHIC Launches Women Empowerment Project for 90 Beneficiaries in Bauchi Communities

A Bauchi-based non-governmental organization, Youth Adolescent Health Initiative and Counselling YAHIC, has launched a women empowerment project targeting 90 beneficiaries across three communities in the state.

Speaking during a press conference held at the Bauchi State Agricultural Development Programme BSADP, the Project Officer, Mr Tameshiya Titus, said the beneficiaries were drawn from Gudum Hausawa, Dass Fadun and Miri communities.

Mr. Titus explained that the initiative, supported by the French Embassy Fund for Civil Society Organizations FEF-OSC, aims to strengthen women’s capacity in moringa cultivation, processing, marketing and branding.

He said the project seeks to economically empower 90 women, including 15 women with disabilities, while addressing challenges such as poverty, malnutrition, gender inequality and climate vulnerability.

He added that YAHIC facilitated the formation of a Technical Working Group in collaboration with the Bauchi State Ministries of Agriculture and Women Affairs to ensure that women are adequately captured in agricultural and economic policies.

Mr Titus further revealed that the organisation is also promoting market linkages and partnerships to enable beneficiaries process moringa into marketable products for both local and international markets.
