Wife of Bogoro Council Chairman flags off vaccination of U-2 children against Malaria

‎‎The wife of Executive Chairman Bogoro Local Government area flagged off the vaccination of children under the age of two against malaria as part of efforts to reduce infant mortality in the Local Government.

‎The flag-off ceremony, organised by the Bauchi State Ministry through State Primary Health Care Development Board in collaboration with Bogoro Local Government area, was held at Primary Health Care center Bogoro.

‎Mrs. Apphia Yakubu Lawi Sumi expressed concern over the high burden of malaria among children in the Local Government, noting that the disease significantly contributes to infant mortality in our communities.

‎She commended the state Government, world Health organization and other partners for prioritising the health of pregnant women and children under five through free medical services, and called on mothers and caregivers to take advantage of the vaccination exercise by presenting their infants at the nearest health facilities.

‎In his welcome address, the Director Primary Health Care Department Bogoro Mr Godwill Hakuri appreciated Development partners and organisations for their technical, financial, and logistical support, while commending traditional and religious leaders, health workers, volunteers, and community mobilizers  for their dedication to the initiative.

‎Mr Hakuri described the introduction of the safe and effective malaria vaccine as a bold step towards reducing child deaths, easing the financial burden on families, and changing the narrative of malaria in communities.

Also speaking, the world Health organization Assistant Public Health officer Bogoro Mrs Nseobong Ikpat, praised the Local Government Chairman for sustained investment in the health sector, particularly in maternal and child healthcare.

‎Earlier, in his vote of thanks, the District Head of Bogoro Mr Nuhu Tafida commended the health workers and partner agencies for their tireless efforts and called on parents and caregivers to actively support the exercise for the benefit of their communities.

‎Mr Tafida assured that traditional leaders would support the exercise in order to ensure a successful and hitch Free vaccination exercise is achieved.
