UNICEF donates motorcycles to Boost Immunisation activities in Bauchi State

The Bauchi State Government has received 45 motorcycles from UNICEF through the GAC Project aimed at improving immunization drive across the state.
Speaking during the handing over at UNICEF Warehouse, Bauchi State Commissioner for Health and Social Welfare, Dr Sani Muhammad Dambam expressed gratitude to UNICEF for its long-standing support to Bauchi State.
He reaffirmed government’s commitment to improve the health sector, particularly maternal and child health, through continuous efforts and collaboration with development partners.
He said the government is committed to using the motorcycles effectively for the purpose they were given, highlighting the state’s ongoing work to revitalize both primary and secondary healthcare facilities.
The Commissioner, also noted that the government has expanded its pre-service health scheme and is introducing a new salary package for health workers.
He said, the motorcycles are also part of effort to strengthen healthcare delivery, particularly in hard-to-reach areas.
Dr. Dambam expressed hope that the new vehicles would help improve access to health services in Bauchi’s most remote areas, making it easier for healthcare teams to reach children in need of immunization.
On her part, the Chief of Field office UNICEF Bauchi Dr. Nuzhat Rafique, explained that the motorcycles would be distributed across Twenty Local Government Areas.
She encouraged those using the motorcycles to take a comprehensive approach to ensure that no child is left behind.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary Bauchi State Primary Healthcare Board, Mr Sama’ila Irmiya Liman, emphasized the significance of the support from UNICEF.noting that the motorcycles would play a pivotal role in enhancing healthcare access, especially in the most remote parts of the state.
In his remarks the Health Specialist for UNICEF’s Bauchi Field Office, Dr Olusoyi Olusunde stated that the donation of the motorcycles was specifically intended to boost immunization coverage.
