UNICEF ADVOCATES THE NEED FOR COMMUNITY RADIOS IN THE STATE TO MOBILIZE THE POPULACE ON THE IMPORTANCE TOWARDS ENROLMENT AND RETENTION OF CHILDREN IN SCHOOLS .

 

 

UNICEF Bauchi field Office has advocated the need for community Radio stations in the state to mobilize the populace towards enrollment and retention of children in schools .

This was contained in a presentation made by the communication officer, UNICEF Bauchi field office Mr. Opeyemi Olagunju, during a media workshop held in Azare Katagum Local Government Area.

Mr Opeyemi Olagunju noted that, the workshop, supported by UNICEF Bauchi field office was aimed to equip managers and producers with more skills that would further assist them in producing children’s programs.

In his remarks, the Managing Director Bauchi Radio Corporation , Alhaji Chindo Waziri who was represented by the Director Community Radio, Ahmed Muhammad appreciated UNICEF Bauchi field office for organizing such an important event.

The Managing Director further assured UNICEF, of the organization’s maximum cooperation to achieve the set goals for the overall development of various communities and the state in general.

Also speaking, One of the resource persons at the workshop, Alhaji Dalhat Hamid Bello spoke extensively on the radio programming techniques and strategies especially with regards to children’s developmental issues to the participants.

Another resource person who doubles as management staff of the Bauchi Radio Corporation, Alhaji Umar Muhammad Shira, called on the participants to utilize the available resources at their disposal to produce and present programs that would bring about positive changes in their immediate communities.

The workshop was attended by managers and program producers across the community radio stations in the state.
