Residents of Bauchi State have been advised not to panic as the Nigerian Army Armoured School, Obienu Barracks, prepares to conduct a live fire power demonstration exercise.
The exercise, scheduled to take place on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, will run from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and will involve the movement of troops, military equipment, and the firing of live ammunition.
In a statement issued by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Nigerian Army Armoured Corps, Major Adekunle Adeyemi, members of the public are urged to remain calm upon seeing military activities or hearing gunshots in and around Bauchi.
The statement further cautioned residents, particularly farmers and cattle rearers, to stay clear of the designated training areas, especially around Zaranda Hill and Soro, to avoid any danger during the exercise.
According to the Army, necessary safety measures have been put in place to safeguard lives and property throughout the duration of the operation.
It therefore appealed to Media organisations to disseminate the information widely, including through indigenous languages, to ensure that residents are adequately informed.
The Nigerian Army in the statement, reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining public safety and urged citizens to cooperate with security agencies during the exercise.
