Managing Director SUWSC Earns National Recognition for Service Delivery Reforms

The Managing Director of the State Urban Water and Sewerage Corporation, Hajiya Uwani Garba Dagauda, has received an Excellence Award from the National Body of the Forum of Civil Society Organisations of Nigeria in recognition of her contributions to improving water supply and infrastructure across the state.

The award acknowledges her role in rehabilitating dilapidated facilities, expanding water distribution networks, and enhancing access to clean water in underserved communities.

It also reflects the growing influence of women in leadership positions within critical infrastructure sectors.

Presenting the award, the group leader, Zubairu Ladan, commended Dagauda’s leadership, noting that her tenure has witnessed significant improvements in water service delivery.

He highlighted her adoption of innovative, technology-driven solutions to address longstanding challenges in the sector.

In her acceptance speech, Hajiya Uwanu Garba Dagauda attributed the achievement to the collective efforts of her team and partners, reaffirmed her commitment to strengthening the state’s water systems, while stressing the need to address persistent challenges, particularly the burden on women and girls who still bear the responsibility of sourcing water in many communities.

Also speaking, the Director of Administration and Human Resources, Aliyu Inuwa, described her leadership as a milestone in breaking gender barriers in engineering and utility management.

He noted that her success serves as an inspiration to young women to pursue careers in science and infrastructure-related fields.

The event further highlighted the importance of collaboration and partnerships in delivering essential public services, with participants describing Dagauda as a driving force behind ongoing reforms in the water sector.
