Lame Emirate Council Urges Bauchi Govt to Investigate Alleged ₦50m Sale of Lame Forest Reserve

The Lame Emirate Council has called on the Bauchi State Government to constitute an investigative committee to probe allegations against a Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Culture and Tourism over the alleged illegal sale of the Lame Forest Reserve for ₦50 million.

The Emir of Lame, Alhaji Aliyu Yakubu Lame, made the call while receiving members of the Bauchi State House of Assembly during their visit to the emirate.

The Emir alleged that the forest was sold to unknown individuals, including people from Katsina and Kaduna states, in collaboration with armed men.

He urged the state government to urgently investigate the matter and halt the alleged illegal activities in the interest of good governance, environmental protection, and administrative accountability.

Alhaji Aliyu Yakubu Lame also appealed to the state government to construct a modern hospital equipped with adequate medical facilities in the area.

He further requested the renovation and reroofing of the damaged police station to strengthen security and improve the safety of residents.

The Emir assured the lawmakers of the Lame Emirate’s continued support and cooperation in promoting development across the state.

Responding, the Bauchi state lawmakers makers assured to conduct a full investigation over the allegations.

Earlier, the Deputy Chairman of Toro Local Government, Dan Yaro Geji, welcomed the delegation led by the Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Abubakar Y. Suleiman, and expressed appreciation for their visit to the area.
