Bauchi Assembly Promises Legislative Backing for Grassroots Development During Emirate Tour

The Bauchi State House of Assembly has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with traditional institutions across the state as lawmakers embarked on a goodwill tour to several emirates.

The delegation was led by the Speaker, Dr Abubakar Y. Suleiman, and visited the Emirates of Warji, Burra, Ningi and Ari to pay homage to the traditional rulers and reinforce the cordial relationship between the legislature and the state’s traditional leadership.

Speaking during the visits, the Speaker said the tour was aimed at deepening the long standing partnership between government and traditional institutions, bringing governance closer to the people, and promoting peace, unity and sustainable development.

He emphasized that the House would continue to support policies, programmes and private member bills that improve the lives of citizens.

At the Warji Emirate, the lawmakers congratulated the Emir and the people on the traditional elevation of the emirate.

The Emir of Warji, Alhaji Ibrahim Sama’ila, commended the Assembly for maintaining a harmonious working relationship with the Executive arm of government.

He also conferred the traditional titles of Sarkin Yaki and Mabuɗin Warji on Governor Bala Mohammed and appealed for the speedy completion of the Warji General Hospital project.

The delegation also visited the Burra Emirate in Ningi Local Government Area, where they received a warm reception from youths, women and community elders.

The Speaker congratulated the Emir on the recent upgrade of the emirate and assured him of the Assembly’s continued legislative support for initiatives that would accelerate development across the state.

Responding, the Emir of Burra, Alhaji Ya’u Shehu Abubakar, expressed appreciation for the visit and appealed to the state government to prioritize the construction of the Burra–Ningi Road and the Fuskar Mata–Toro Road to enhance socioeconomic activities in the area.

At the Ningi Emirate, the Emir, Alhaji Haruna Yunusa Ɗanyaya, thanked the lawmakers for the visit and praised the cordial relationship between the Legislature and the Executive.

He appealed for the installation of solar powered street lights to improve security and reduce criminal activities, alongside the provision of additional social amenities.

Similarly, the Emir of Ari in Ningi Local Government, Alhaji Muhammad Kilishi Musa, commended Governor Bala Mohammed for the creation and upgrading of emirates in the state, describing the initiative as a significant step toward strengthening traditional institutions and grassroots governance.
