BY JOSEPH BULUS:
The Chairman Bogoro Local Government Council, Surveyor Yakubu Lawi Sumi has pledged his commitment towards addressing challenges confronting the area to ensure smooth running of the newly appointed Gung Zaar of Zaar chiefdom.
The Chairman stated this when the Zaar Traditional Council paid homage to His Royal Majesty Marcus Koko Yake at his Palace in Tafawa- Balewa.
The Monarch while welcoming a delegation of Elders Forum, appreciated them for their commitment to peace building, community engagement, and grassroot development.
He emphasized the need for dialogue, unity and shared responsibility as the foundation for sustainable progress and lasting peace within the chiefdom.
The Royal Majesty announced that measures have been put in place to restore respect and discipline across the Chiefdom.
According to him, he has already informed the Divisional Police Officers Bogoro and Tafawa-Balewa, JTF Commandant and other Security agencies within the Chiefdom, to strive to discharge their assigned responsibilities.
He warned that anyone found engaging in criminal acts will face the full wrath of the law, and no individual will be allowed to obstruct or interfere with the operations of security agencies.
He warned against the habitual blocking of roads particularly along Bauchi-Dawaki road, stating that such practice must cease immediately.
The Traditional ruler advised persons with grievances to channel their concerns through the appropriate authorities rather than resorting to disruptive actions.
On the issue of illicit drugs, he directed individuals involved in the sale of substances such as Chaskale, dry gin and other illicit drugs to desist and warned that anyone found wanting would be severely dealt with.
Earlier in his speech, the Chairman of the Forum, Elder Peter Roko and Mr Daniel Mazadu, former Chairman Tafawa-Balewa Local Government, highlighted issues threatening peace and harmonious coexistence in Tafawa-Balewa which include political divisions, increased youth restiveness, unemployment, erosion of traditional values, ineffective community dialogue and the rapid spread of misinformation and provocative content, often fueled by the misuse of social media platforms.
They appealed for the collective intervention of leaders and stakeholders, to address the menace.
