Gov. Bala reaffirms commitment in improving lives women in the state.

Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State says his administration has keyed into the Nigeria for Women Project aimed at supporting women to actualize their potentials.

The Governor disclosed this when he received in audience, the Minister for Women Affairs and Social Development, Barrister Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye who paid him an advocacy visit at the Government House, Bauchi.

Governor Bala Mohammed declared that his administration will work with the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and other implementating agencies to ensure that women folks in Bauchi benefited maximally from the project.

He commended the Minister for bringing new frontiers for women empowerment and reaffirmed the state government’s unwavering commitment towards improving the lives of women in the state.

The Governor told the Minister that his administration has set up mobile courts to entertain cases against women with a view to resolving them by punishing the perpetrators and welcomed the minister’s resolve to address the plight of women across the country.

Governor Muhammad emphasized his government’s resolve to implement programs and policies that promote gender equality and women’s empowerment and acknowledged the crucial role women play in shaping the society and expressed his commitment to providing opportunities for their economic, social, and political growth.

He highlighted various initiatives his administration has undertaken to improve women’s lives, including vocational training, microfinance schemes, and education programs and mentioned the establishment of a gender desk to address gender-based violence and other gender-related issues.

Earlier, the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development Barrister Kennedy-Ohanenye seek the Bauchi state government’s support in addressing and tackling the plight and suffering faced by the women.

The Women Affairs Minister said at the moment, the federal government has sent economic machines in 16 states of the federation for women empowerment and commended Governor Bala Muhammad for his support towards women development.
