Bauchi State Lawmaker sponsors the treatment of 500 eye patients in Katagum Local Government.

The Member Representing Azare/Madangala constituency Alhaji Zakariyya Sale Maigero has sponsored the treatment of over 500 eye patients in Katagum Local Government Area.

Speaking to newsmen at Albasar International Foundation, Mecca eye Hospital Bauchi, venue of the exercise, Alhaji Zakariyya Sale said the services include glaucoma, cataract, eyelid problem night blindness among others.

He said 380 of the beneficiaries received medication, 120 undergo operations and 50 others were given free glasses.

According to him, the move is geared to show real love for grassroots, the downtrodden, the poor and less privileged who ordinarily would have found it extremely difficult to embark on eye test and treatment.

The Lawmaker described the initiative as part of his commitment to human capital and social development, aimed at improving the quality of life for his constituents.

Alhaji Zakariyya Sale emphasized that healthcare is a basic right, not a privilege, hence the need to embark on such initiative across Katagum Local Government council.

Beneficiaries of the programme, Abubakar Sabo, Musa Abubakar Fujiru, Ibrahim Adamu Madangala and Hafsatu Yahaya described it as one of the most far-reaching interventions in recent years in Azare/Madangala constituency, given the volume and diversity of medical cases attended to.

They commended Zakariyya Sale for his large heatedness and prayed Allah to reward him abundantly.
