The Bauchi state high court in it’s continuations of stakeholders engagement sensitization meeting on the operation of Small claims court has conducted a one day sensitization meeting with the stakeholders in Alkaleri local government secretariat.
Speaking during the event In Alkaleri, the director special duties of the high court Bauchi Amina Ahmad Garba , who ably represented the chief Registrar of Bauchi state said, small claims courts were created to provide easy, fast track court process of recovering debts mainly amongst traders and Petty business men and women.
Amina explained that, small claims court are to deliver their judgements within two months so as to ensure prompt response and resolutions of disputes of debts.
According to her, SCC started functions in 2023 and now were operating within magistrate courts Alkaleri local government area inclusive.
She further revealed that, this small claims courts were permitted to handle debts cases recovery of up to three million naira only while urging business men and women including the lenders of money to always handle their transactions on written documents and witnesses to avoid had I known while the case is in court.
In his remarks, member of the state commerce and the union of butchers Jauro Sarkin Fawa applauded the state governor and the state high court of established small claims courts in Bauchi state particularly Alkaleri local government.
According to him, this is a welcome development that can reduce congestion , delay and unnecessary adjournment of cases in conventional courts.
He appealed to small claims courts to be fair and just in order to improve the integrity of the judges and judiciary at large.
In his closing remarks, the chairman Alkaleri local government area Alhaji Garba Hassan Bajama has expressed his administration unwavering commitment readiness and determination to support the small claims court in Alkaleri in order to ensure that just and fair judgements are delivered.
The chairman who was represented by the DSO Haruna Abdullahi Gamu said, justice,pair hiring are the ingredients for the successful operations in fully considered. He appealed to the magistrant to operate within her jurisdiction and to allow intruders to soiled her image and that of the judiciary while urging the business men and women of the are to operate within the Circumference of the law and support the small claims court operate for improved service delivery in Alkaleri local government.
