The Bauchi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has organised a two-day Train-the-Trainers workshop ahead of the 2026 Hajj exercise in the state.
Speaking at the opening of the workshop, the Executive Secretary of the Board, Dr. Imam Abdurrahman Ibrahim Idris, said the annual programme is designed to equip facilitators with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively guide intending pilgrims.
He explained that the training also updates instructors on new policy guidelines issued by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria NAHCON to ensure strict compliance during the Hajj operations.
Dr Abdurrahman disclosed that medical screening for all intending pilgrims in Bauchi State has been successfully concluded, adding that pilgrims’ uniforms and Yellow Cards have been procured, as part of the board’s early preparations to avoid last-minute challenges.
The Executive Secretary further announced that the airlift of Bauchi State pilgrims is scheduled to commence on 30th April, 2026 and assured that the Board has put all necessary measures in place to ensure a hitch-free 2026 Hajj exercise.
He appreciated Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, for sponsoring the workshop and consistently supporting the activities of the Board.
In his keynote address, the Bauchi State Commissioner for Religious Affairs and Societal Reorientation, Alhaji Binni Abdulkadir Muhammad, called on the trainees to make effective use of the knowledge acquired during the workshop while conducting step-down trainings across the state, commended Governor Bala Mohammed for his sustained support to religious bodies and prayed for accepted acts of worship for Muslims during the holy month of Ramadan.
In a goodwill message, the Special Adviser on Hajj Affairs, Alhaji Shehu Wadaji, applauded the State Pilgrims Welfare Board and Hajj leaders at the local government level for their commitment and coordination in ensuring a smooth exercise.
While declaring the workshop open, the Director of Enlightenment on Hajj Affairs, Alhaji Abubakar Hashim, revealed that about three hundred participants drawn from across the 20 local government areas of the state are expected to benefit from the training.
He emphasized that the enlightenment unit will intensify public awareness campaigns on Hajj rites, travel regulations, health requirements, and pilgrims’ conduct in Saudi Arabia and urged facilitators to educate intending pilgrims on discipline, adherence to Saudi Arabian laws.
