Bauchi State Government says it is determine to harness its miniral and natural resources.

Bauchi state government has reiterated its commitment to fully harness the state’s mineral and natural resources in a bid to increase internally generated revenue.

The State Commissioner for Natural Resources Development, Muhammad Maiwada Bello, made the pledge in an interview with newsmen after defending the ministry’s 2026 budget proposal before members of the Bauchi State House of Assembly at the Assembly Complex.

Maiwada Bello said the ministry is working out madalities to introduce new mechanisms and strategies aimed at promoting the state’s natural resource potential for economic growth.

He also assured that the government will strengthen regulations to ensure that all mining operations in the state follow due process and comply with extant laws.

According to him, effective supervision of miners, improved resource management, and increased investment in the sector will position Bauchi State to benefit fully from its abundant natural endowments.

The Commissioner revealed that, the state government has inaugurated a committee for the establishment of the Mining Institute, Alkaleri, to become the state’s first specialised institution dedicated to mining development.

He praised Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, for his visionary approach to transforming the state’s mineral sector.

Maiwada Bello, added that, the proposed institute is conceived as a legacy project that will drive professional training, research, innovation, and technical excellence across the mining value chain.

Responding, the Chairman, State House of Assembly Committee on Natural Resources Bello Sarkin Jadori said assembly will support to Ministry in carrying out its statutory responsibilities.

He noted that, the ministry plays a critical role in harnessing the state’s natural endowments for economic growth.

Bello Sarkin Jadori commended the ministry for its efforts so far and emphasized the need for effective implementation of the proposed budget.

According to him, improved funding and oversight will enable the ministry to execute key programmes, enhance resource management, and boost revenue generation for the state.
