
Bauchi state government has overhauled its tactical and defensive frameworks within the 2,244 square kilometres of Yankari landscape and neighboring ecosystems to enhance security in the protected areas.
The Managing Director Bauchi state Tourism Development Cooperation Dr. Muhammad Nasiru Yusuf stated this during a press briefing held at the NUJ Secretariat Bauchi on the landmark achievements and security architecture deployed to all its Forest and Game reserves in Bauchi .
Dr. Muhammad Nasir who is also the Conservator General said for some years now the state conservation areas faced dual threats ,along side the boarder regional security challenges of banditry hence the overhaul.
He explained that with the efforts of joint tactical patrols, technological integration, rancher capacity and weaponry upgrade to address insecurity in all its protected areas such as Yankari Games reserves,Sumu Wildlife Park,Lame Burra and Maladumba lake and forest.
According to him the state is finalizing a comprehensive 10 year Management plan 2025- 2035 to ensure that the security momentum is sustained .
The Managing Director urged poachers,bandits and environmental saboteurs to resend their bad attempts saying that Bauchi’s protected areas are no longer open for illegal exploits.
