
The Bauchi State Government has flagged off the distribution of cows and rams to residents across the state as Sallah gifts for the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony held at the State Emergency Management Agency, Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, said the distribution exercise has remained a tradition since the inception of his administration.
Represented by the Secretary to the State government Alhaji Aminu Hammayo, noted that Eid-el-Kabir symbolizes sacrifice, drawing lessons from the obedience and devotion of Prophet Abraham, peace be upon him.
Aminu Hammayo explained that the animals would be distributed to different segments of society including traditional and political leaders, youths, women, vulnerable groups, and security agencies.
The SSG further disclosed that Governor Bala Mohammed directed the committee to patronize local livestock traders directly from markets across the state in order to support their businesses and livelihoods.
He commended members of the distribution committee for their commitment and disclosed that the exercise would be carried out simultaneously across all parts of the state including Azare, Toro, Misau and other communities.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Budget and Multilateral Coordination, who is also the overseeing Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Hajiya. Amina Katagum, said the annual gesture demonstrates Governor Bala Mohammed’s commitment to ensuring that citizens celebrate the Eid-el-Kabir festival comfortably.
She explained that sacrificial animals would be distributed across the twenty local government areas of the state, describing the initiative as a reflection of the Governor’s compassion and concern for the welfare of the people.
Hajiya Amina Katagum thanked Governor Bala Mohammed for what she described as his kindness and prayed for Allah’s continued guidance, wisdom to steer the state to greater heights.
