Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency pledges to promote healthy sanitary conditions across the state

‎Bauchi State Government has again warned against indiscriminate dumping of refuse in drainages and promised to address the issue of sanitation to promote healthy sanitary conditions across the State.

The Director General, Bauchi State Environment Protection Aheny, Dr. Mahmood Bose who gave the warning while featuring on a live phone in programme, said the focus of Governor Bala Mohammed administration, recognizes that improper waste disposal may cause pollution of air, soil and water which may lead to a myriad of health problems for the populace.

He said, the Agency will leave no stone unturned towards ensuring a clean environment to stimulate good health and hygiene, and called on marketers, business operators, to employ the services of waste collection firms to properly handle the additional waste generated in the State capital.

Dr. Mahmood Bose assured that, efforts of the state government to make the State clean and hygienic is not limited to the State capital, adding that no community would be neglected in the fight against poor sanitary conditions and unclean environment.

He solicited the continued support of residents to make the state clean and healthy, stressing the need for all stakeholders to strictly adhere with the State environmental laws to mitigate environmental problems which emanate from human activities in the quest for economic growth and development.

The Director General of BASEPA used the forum to announce plans by the agency to increase the frequency of refuse evacuation and the engagement of community leaders to ensure environmental cleanness across the state.

Also speaking on the programme, The Director Operations of the Bauchi State Roads Traffic Agency (BAROTA), Dr. Zubairu Mato has warned motorists, motorcycle riders and tricyclists that they will face prosecution for violating traffic rules and retricyclists

He said BAROTA is determined to ensure smooth traffic flow and safeguard citizens lives and properties.

Dr. Zubairu Mato called on heavy trucks drivers parking unnecessary by the road side, to use the alternative parking spaces provided to avoid accidents and congestion within the state capital.

He added that, personnel of the agency have undergone special training, saying, they have already embarked on special operations across the state to ensure compliance to traffic rules and regulations.
