Bauchi Govt partner PSi in addressing misconception of Menstruation

A two day State Level Mestrual Health Training for the media has ended in Bauchi with a called on the participants to create proper understanding on the use and disposal of menstrual products to effectively educate and support adolescent Girls and young women as well as safeguarding the ecosystem

The training organized by the Bauchi State Ministry for women Affairs and Child Development in Collaboration with Population Services International PSi

The training centered on the need for journalists and social media influencers to create content that would address menstrual health Myths, Misconception and the facts group work and crafting Key menstrual messages.

In her remarks held at Chartwell Hotel Bauchi, the state commissioner of women Affairs and Child Development Hajara Zainab Babban Tanko represented by Gender Desk Officer of the ministry encouraged the participants to create their news content towards changing the negetive perceptions about women mestrual period which according to her is a normal and be proud of by all people particularly males

On her part, the Project Officer at the Population Services International Ms Gloria Obeth commended the participants for their commitment towards supporting PSI to achieve it set objectives in Bauchi state despite the short noticed

She noted that, the major objectives of the project is to equip media journalists and media influencers with the knowledge, skills and resources to effectively promote Menstrual Health and Hygiene Management (MHHM)

According to her, the training will enable journalists to better support and educate adolescent girls and young women between normal and abnormal health Menstruation

Speaking unbehalf of the participated journalists Mrs Hafsat Bulak of NTA thanked the organizers for organizing the training and assured their readiness to amplify the needed information to address challenges related to Mestrual Health Hygiene in the selected three local government areas of Bauchi to include Bauchi, Misau and Katagum

Highlight at the occasion were presentations on safeguarding in Mestrual Health Hygiene Management programs, modalities of media engagement and posting guidelines, developing content plans and presentation of media action plans among others.
