The Bauchi State Executive Council has approved a one hundred percent upward review of salaries for medical and healthcare workers across the state.
The Council also approved the award of contracts for the construction and rehabilitation of eight roads, culverts and drainage systems in various communities to address infrastructure and flooding challenges.
Briefing journalists on the outcome of the Council meeting presided over by Governor Bala Mohammed, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Sani Muhammad Dambam said the salary increment would be complemented by the introduction of special allowances for health workers posted outside local government headquarters.
Dr. Dambam further disclosed that the Council approved the implementation of outstanding promotions for over two thousand healthcare workers in the state.
On his part, the Commissioner for Housing and Environment, Danlami Ahmed Kawule, explained that the approved construction of culverts and drainage systems in Duguri community of Alkaleri Local Government Area, Ningi town, and Walai in Itas/Gadau Local Government Area is aimed at mitigating the devastating effects of flooding in the affected communities.
Similarly, the Commissioner for Works Professor Titus Ketkuka, revealed that the Council approved over nine billion naira for the design and construction of additional roads in Bauchi metropolis, as well as the rehabilitation of Rimin Zayam Road in Toro Local Government Area and Folchi Road in Darazo Local Government Area.
Other approvals granted by the Executive Council include the rehabilitation of Yandoka Road linking Wunti to Gombe Road, the digitization of Bauchi State Television BATV and Bauchi Radio Corporation BRC to align with global best media practices and the recapitalization of Yankari Savings and Loans to enhance it operations.
