BAUCHI GOVERNOR SEEKS SUPPORT OF MSSN ON MORAL BEHAVIOUR AMONG YOUTHS OF ADOLESCENT AGE

Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State had sought for the support of the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN) in the area of training
youths of adolescent age on selfdiscipline and selfreliance in an effort to tackle immoral behaviour in the society.

Speaking at the closing of the 80th edition of the National Islamic Vacation Course held at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi, the Governor expressed concern that society is seriously afflicted with number of challenges which have spread to almost every aspect of its being.

Represented by his Deputy, Alhaji Mohammed Auwal Jatau, Governor Bala applauded the leadership of the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN) for organizing the week long intensive program in which young Muslim adolescent boys and girls were trained on both moral and qualitative education.

He also commended the effort of the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria for organizing such programme thereby complimenting the government effort in ensuring an egalitarian society and stressed the need for other sister religious organizations to emulate.

The Governor whosaid
security of lives and property of the citizens is one of the major priorities of his administration, noted that managing security of lives and property always requires moral and religious approach.

According to him, empowering youths would ensure a more prosperous and inclusive society and assured of the state government’s readiness to support and involve religious bodies in decision making to reduce distrust and provide avenues for addressing all grievances before they get out of hand.

In a keynote address, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar the third, said the theme of the course, “The Position of Muslims in National Politics and Economy: Where we are and where we ought to be” is timely and tasked the participants to make good use of the knowledge acquired for the promotion of Islamic education which will go along way towards addressing the numerous challenges facing the country.

Also speaking, the MSSN National Amir, Malam Shehu Usman Abubakar noted that, Muslim societies and youths have a vital role to play in national politics and the economy, hence the need for the youths to be equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed.
