BAUCHI STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY ESTABLISHES FOOD SECURITY AND NUTRITION COMMITTEE.

Bauchi State House Of Assembly has Established Food Security And Nutrition Committee.

Presenting a motion on the established committee, the House majority leader Babayo Mohammed Akuyam said the committee was constituted with a view to attaining optimal nutrition status for the citizens of Bauchi with focus on the most vulnerable especially women and children as well as internally Displaced persons.

He said the Jurisdictions of the committee includes, to ensure that food and nutrition activities under the state ministry of budget, economic planing and multilateral coordination are implemented in line with the National Multi sectoral strategic plan of action for food and nutrition and to ensure reduction of the proportion of people who suffer hunger and malnutrition.

Others are, to ensure increment of the number of relevant MDA’s with functional nutrition unit by 75% and to ensure incorporation of nutrition education into formal and informal training.
Meanwhike, the state house of assembly has passed into law, a bill to establish Bauchi State safety and security of schools.
