A prominent Islamic cleric in Bauchi State, Imam Umar Sulaiman Bala, has called on Nigerians to be patriotic and vote for credible candidates in the 2027 general elections.
Imam Umar Sulaiman Bala made the call during his sermon at Sahaba Jumma’at Mosque, Bauchi.
He emphasized the importance of loving one’s religion, nation, and locality as taught in the Holy Quran.
The cleric lamented the incessant killing of innocent people in the country and advised leaders to prioritize security and well-being of citizens before seeking re-election amidst such crises.
The cleric expressed concerned over the rising poverty rate in Northern Nigeria and advised people to vote wisely and resist any short-term material gains.
Imam Umar Sulaiman Bala also urged religious leaders to focus on preaching gospel of Allah to the people rather than politics and prayed for God’s protection of the country.
