Bauchi Assembly approved 2025 consolidated proposed budget for local government councils in the state

Bauchi State House of Assembly has approved one hundred and seventy four billion, twenty one million, two hundred and twenty six thousand naira as 2025 consolidated proposed budget estimate for the twenty local government Councils.
Out of the amount, one hundred and ten billion, seventy five million, Three hundred and twenty eight thousand, six hundred and fifty five naira is for recurrent expenditure representing 63% while more than sixty four billion, thirty three million naira is for capital expenditure, representing 37%.
The passage of the local government Councils consolidated proposed budget is coming, when the joint house committee on appropriation and local government and Chieftaincy Affairs presented it report during plenary.
The committee in its report, recommended that, the ministry for local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in collaboration with the 20 LGAs to organize quarterly intensive capacity building training and retraining for budget officers on IPSAS compliant budget preparation techniques.
Others are, to ensure future budgets Shou accord greater priority to capital projects to stimulate socio economic development, in line with global best practices and that local governments should develop and implement robust strategies focused on enhancing their internally generated revenue.
The rest include, the need for the local governments to establish a framework for regular monitoring and evaluation of the councils financial activities among others.
While fielding questions from state assembly Correspondents, the Chairman State House of Assembly Committee on Appropriation, . Mohammed Wanzam, member Representing Sakwa constituency said the committee has engaged all relevant stakeholders, including state Commissioner ministry for local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, executive Chairmen of 20 LGAs, Directors of budget and planing, revenue and finance to collate and analysing inputs to ensure accuracy and alignment with fiscal priorities.
