BASIEC promises to conduct credible local government councils election.

Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission has assured citizens of the state it’s readiness to conduct a credible local government councils election.

The Executive Chairman of the Commission, Alhaji Ahmed Makama gave the assurance while speaking with political correspondents in his office.

He declared August 17th as the fixed date for the elections across all the 20 local government areas of the state.

Alhaji Makama said during the election, twenty Chairmanship seats will emerge along side three hundred and twenty three Councillors as part of it’s plan for a fair handling of the task.

According to him, already, an interective meeting has recently been conducted with political parties and other stakeholders, adding that, the commission has adequate funding to deliver it’s constitutional mandate.

While charging charging political parties and candidates to peruse deeply relevant sections of the constitution and electoral guidelines so as to play the game according to the rule, said there will be no room for shortage of electoral materials.

On voters, he said, the permanent voters cards used during the previous elections will be the valid authentication for the LGA’s election and called for co-operation from the citizens so as to strengthen the electoral system.

Alhaji Ahmed Makama appreciated the kind support and synergy enjoined from the key actors particularly the security agencies and community leaders towards ensuring a conduct of seamless exercise.
