Bauchi State Environmental Sanitation and Protection Agency has banned dumping of refuse by individuals and service providers along Bauchi-Kano road.
The resolutions was reached during a meeting with state sanitation service service providers association presided by Director General BASEPA Dr Mahmud Mohammed Bose at BASEPA headquarters, Bauchi.
The BASEPA director general represented by Mohammed Usman Saleh director Inspection enforcement and compliance said the measure became necessary due to environmental pollution caused to Gubi dam which is the major source of water supply to the state capital.
He therefore warned the service providers and individuals who dump refuse around the affected area to desist from the act.
He said there is going to be a strong and formidable surveillance team that will monitor the affected area for two months and anyone found violating the order would be sanctioned accordingly.
He urged individuals and and sanitation service providers to utilize the the designated dumping site at Dungulbi.
Commenting, the state chairman sanitation service providers Association professor Abba Gana said the association will mobilize members for proper compliance.
Represented by Kabiru Ibrahim Adamu of Top Town cleaners, Professor Gana thanked BASEPA for calling them to order.
