Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi graduates first set of medical Doctors
The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University,Bauchi has inducted its first twenty five set of graduated medical Doctors.
Speaking at the occasion held at Yelwa Campus Bauchi, the chairman of the occasion, and former Governor Bauchi state, Malam Isa Yuguda commended the efforts of the Management and staff of ATBU for graduating the first set of medical doctors
Represented by Abdullahi Dabo , Malam Isa Yuguda who recalled the passion of the former governor for the education sector, asked the graduates to be upright and continue their quest for knowledge considering the challenges ahead of them
Earlier, the Provost College Medical Sciences Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi professor Sambo Zailani explained that, the college was established in two thousand and sixteen with the fifty inducted students aimed at training medical students and to engaged in research and render clinical services to the community
According to him, the college has six faculties approved on inception to include basic medical sciences, basic clinical sciences, clinical sciences, dentistry, Allied health sciences and biomedical engineering and prosthesis with a view to graduating medical doctors of international standard
Professor Sambo B Zailani lauded the foresight of the state former governor Isa Yuguda’s effort towards the actualisation of the ATBU College of medical sciences and a Teaching Hospital in the state.
On her part, the registrar Medical and Dental Councillorship of Nigeria Dr. Fatima Kyari called on the inductees to enroll for compulsory internship training to enable them become certified medical practitioners.
In a paper presentation with the topic ”who is a successful doctor,”, the guest lecturer professor Sani Mohammad from ABU Zaria advised the inductees to respect the ethics of medical profession which include preserving human dignity and right of patients in the discharge of their duties.
Highlights of the occasion was the administration of oath by the registrar of the medical and dental council of Nigeria, Dr Fatima Kyari to the twenty five first set of ATBU medical Doctors.
