STATE ASSEMBLY PASSES 2024 APPROPRIATION BILL INTO LAW.

The State house of Assembly has passed into law the twenty twenty four state budget of over three hundred and two billion naira after Governor Bala Mohammed submitted the documents to the assembly for legislative action.

The passage of the bill followed the consideration and adoption of the report of house committee on appropriation.

According to reports, the committee has approved over one hundred and twenty one billion naira for recurrent expenditure while capital expenditure stood at over billion one hundred and seventy eight naira and over eighty nine billion naira for capital receipt for the twenty twenty four fiscal year.

To this end, the committee recommended and urged the state government to establish a fiscal responsibility commission to ensure transparency, probity, and accountability in terms of management of public funds by all the MDAs across the state.

Other recommendations of the committee is the need for the state assembly to organize series of training and workshops for all the chairmen and secretaries of standing committees to enable them understand the nitty gritty of recent development pertaining budgetary system.

In his ruling, the speaker Babayo Mohammed Akuyam appreciated his colleagues for their efforts on the budget, saying the success recorded was in conjunction with the House of Assembly other subcommittees.

He said the, the State house of Assembly has provided the executive what it needed to implement the budget, hoping that the implementation of the budget would be faster, nothing that the State assembly would do well in its oversight functions.

Meanwhile, the State house of assembly has passed into law four bills.

The bills include, a law to amend the Bauchi state Orphans and vulnerable children 2023, a bill for a law to provide child protection 2022, a bill to establish the Bauchi state Urban water sewerage corporation, the Bauchi state small town water supply and sanitation agency, the Bauchi state water regulatory commission and for other matters incidental.
