POPULATION COMMISSION EXPLAINS THE ONGOING DEMOGRAPHIC AND HEALTH SURVEY.

The state office of the National Population Commission has described the ongoing Demographic and Health Survey as a veritable instrument towards providing evidence based policies and interventions in the Nations development Agenda.

The Federal Commissioner of the National Population Commission Bauchi office, Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammad Darazo made the remark today at a press briefing to launch the 2023 / 24 Nigeria Demgraphic and Health Survey held at its conference hall Bauchi.

Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammad Darazo revealed that the launching of the Demographic and Health Survey marks the advancement of strategic planning and collaborative efforts in the implementation of policies in the Health sector.

According to the Federal Commissioner, the Commission has been spearheading the implementation of the Demographic Health survey in collaboration with the federal ministry of Health and other key partners.
Alhaji Ibrahim Darazo expressed satisfaction that the exercise had developed from a survey to a more reliable Demographic and Health system for the country.
He also announced that the Survey is presently being conducted in seventeen local government Areas of the state covering Forty one selected clusters which have already been mapped out for the exercise.
Similarly, the commissioner hinted that already, interviews have been conducted in the clusters selected from Bauchi and zaki local government Areas.
While calling on the state government to facilitate the conduct of the Survey ,which he descried as very crucial to the development of the state and the Nation in general, the federal Commissioner therefore used the forum to appeal to the people in the elected clusters to cooperate with the the interviewers by responding honestly, assuring that information gathered would be confidential.
The commission also called for support and cooperation from the media in enlighteing the public on the importance of the ongoing exercise, in order to ensure its success.
He therefore thanked the National Bureau for Statistics, the federal ministry of Women Affairs and other International donor agencies for their support in the area of funding and technical expertise which ensured the fruitful conduct of the exercise.
Meanwhile, the exercise is expected to be conducted in Four months across the selected clusters.
